Writing Contest Judging

I recently had the pleasure to help judge a writing contest held by Brian Knight (aspiring writer extraordinaire)  http://the-new-author.blogspot.com/2010/03/in-hands-of-judges.html, who runs a website helping aspiring writers find their way.

The second annual New Author Writing Contest was for both poems and short stories. The results of the contest will be available on his website on or shortly after March 29th. I invite you to go read the contenders http://the-new-author.blogspot.com and see what you think. (Brian runs a good blog, and if you are interested in writing, you can probably find some benefit from visiting his space.) There is some good talent among the stories present. I won't tell you who I favored, you can go decide for yourself.

Judging was an enjoyable experience, and will certainly not be my last. I'm trying to involve myself more in the writing community as it will prove valuable to my writing and network of contacts.

  1. Clifton - I really appreciate you being a judge. I tried very hard this year to get judges that cover a wide range of occupations in the writing world. I think I did that because I had writers, readers, publishers, promoters and even an editor. As you can see, the winner will have something to hang his/her hat on with this. I think it is safe to say that everyone enjoyed this years contest.

It is good to reach out to the writing community when you can. I agree, it will be valuable in the days to come.
